Capital of the Limousin region, Limoges is a medieval city sitting on the banks of the Vienne river. Limoges is well known for its porcelain which is made from kaolin, a rock local to the Limoges area.
Les Halles market is packed with a range of local food stuffs such as fois gras and noisette (a locally produced hazelnut liqueur).
Limoges Airport is located 10 kilometres out of the city and is now served by Ryanair and Flybe. Limoges train station is located north of central Limoges and is a notable 1920ís era architectural gem.
